January 02, 2008This year's Christmas gift for dissidens

I interrupt my normal blog silence to present my second annual Christmas gift for dissidens.

Around this time last year, I presented dissidens with a link to an Oscar Wilde action figure as a Christmas present.

I had found that particular gem during my family's annual visit to Frankenmuth, MI, a German-ish tourist trap town, perhaps best known for Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, a multi-acre store filled with nothing but Christmas decorations. (Check out their trivia page.)

I found this year's gift at Bronner's itself, in their selection of Christmas music. Many of dissidens recent posts have lamented (or, more accurately, lambasted) the insipid sentimentality that characterizes much of the music celebrating the Incarnation.

And so, for this year's present, I offer dissidens a CD that is completely upfront with its goals, as pathetic as those goals might be: Sentimental Christmas.
